We are happy to provide you with these delicious eggs served daily from our happy hens.

What’s so great about our eggs?

In order to understand what makes eggs from our hens superior, the many terms used for eggs need to be understood. In our approach we use the

Terms Used in Marketing Eggs

- All Natural: This is really a very loosely applied term in the food industry and does little to describe what it is you are buying.

- Vegetarian Fed: Unbeknownst to most consumers, a vegetarian diet is very unnatural to chickens. Such a diet is only made possible by denying hens a natural free-range environment where they may encounter their usual diet which includes insects and worms.

- Organic: Certified organic includes standards relating to the feed and living conditions of the hens. While the feed may not have chemicals and antibiotics, hens may still be overly confined.

- Cage-Free: Hens are not kept in cages, but may still live in confined and stressed conditions.

-Free-Range: Hens are allowed access to the outdoors but unless noted otherwise may not actually actually spend considerable time out of their confinement barns.

-Pastured: A system of rotational grazing in which hens spend their time foraging in an open and free range environment.

                                                        Our Eggs!

“Pastured” method which we believe to be the best in terms of treatment of the hens, and renewal of the land.

In the Pastured method hens are rotated on pastures and allowed to express their chicken nature by foraging for seeds and bugs, taking dust baths, and occasionally attempting flight. It doesn’t hurt to try every once and a while.

While we use organic methods on our pastures and feed locally produced grains, neither our pastures nor feed are certified organic.

Our hens are hormone and antibiotic free and enjoy a very pleasant chicken lifestyle. This all translates to a noticeable difference in the look, taste, texture, and nutrition of the egg.
